Aleece reached out to us initially with an apology and request to remove this entry, but ultimately (by all appearances) simply wanted us to take down this entry without understanding why what she posted was racist. Here is her interaction with us:
We’ve received information that one person indeed reached out to Chastain’s employer linking to this site (we have reached out to that person to remind them of our policies on using our website for purposes of harassment) while the other allegations Chastain made either do not link back to us (but other anti-racism websites and Facebook groups that do not redact screenshots as we do) or have no substantiation (such as the allegation in the email above).
Moreover – as we reminded Chastain – having friendships and/or relationships with people of color neither negates a person’s ability to engage in racism nor excuses / permits it.
Should she decide to enter our restorative justice program (as she admitted initially she did make these racist remarks but her “intent” was not to be racist), we’ll update this entry.
